Our History

The Hollis Historical Society was founded on June 13, 1958, with a mission to preserve the rich history of Hollis, New Hampshire. The Society was named in honor of Elizabeth P. Proctor, whose dedication to local history inspired the organization's founding.

Today, the Society has grown to 168 members who share a passion for preserving and promoting the heritage of our community. Over the years, the organization has been recognized for its outstanding contributions to historical preservation, earning the prestigious Crystal Eagle Award from the New Hampshire Division of Historical Resources.

Our mission is to preserve Hollis history through the maintenance of our museums, the curation of our archives, and the presentation of educational programs for the community. We strive to ensure that the stories, artifacts, and documents that define our town's heritage are protected and accessible for future generations.
