The Wheeler House

The Wheeler House serves as headquarters for the Hollis Historical Society. The building contains five rooms of exhibits showcasing period furnishings, antique tools, textiles, photographs, and documents spanning Hollis's history from colonial times through the 20th century. Outside, visitors enjoy the beautiful Lucie Beebe Memorial Garden.

The Wheeler House is open Mondays from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. For visits at other times, please call ahead.

The Always Ready Engine House on Hollis Town Common

Always Ready Engine House

Hollis Town Common 1st Sunday June-Oct, 1-4 PM

Built in 1859, the Always Ready Engine House is one of the most distinctive buildings in Hollis. Named for the fire company that built it during the Civil War era, the building has served many functions over the years. Today it houses fascinating exhibits including the original "Defender" hand-pump fire engine, a horse-drawn hearse, the town lockup cell, and Civil War memorabilia.

Old Pine Hill Schoolhouse

69 Ranger Road, Hollis, NH 1st Sunday June-Oct, 1-4 PM

This lovingly restored one-room schoolhouse offers visitors a glimpse into rural education in 19th-century New England. Complete with original desks, slate boards, and period teaching materials, the schoolhouse transports visitors back to a time when students of all ages learned together in a single classroom.

This 1806 building served as a tavern and gathering place in early Hollis. Now a private museum, it houses a remarkable collection of early American artifacts. Visits are available by appointment—call (603) 465-2884 to arrange a tour.
